Autism/Aspergers Nutritional Concerns
Nutrition starts prior to birth -- in the womb! What you eat when you are pregnant will effect your unborn child. Is it a mother's fault that her child has Autism? Let's not even go there. Too many factors are involved in the debate of Autism causes and "cures." What matters now is what you do for your child today -- from birth on.
Does the food a child eats matter? Or should you just be glad that your child agrees to eat anything at all? Is there such a thing as 'leaky gut' found in children with Autism/Aspergers?
Experience tells us that what any child eats will help to determine their general health and development as well as emotional temperment and mental ability. Experienced parents of children in the Autism Spectrum can readily speak of how the foods their children eat influence behavior, health and development.
FOOD MATTERS! LEAKY GUT EXISTS! FOOD INTOLERANCES ARE LIFE THREATENING! FOOD ALLERGIES & INTOLERANCES ARE HARD TO PROVE BY SOME MEDICAL TESTING! ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE PROVIDES MANY ANSWERS NOT FOUND IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE!
Patience, good documentation and careful monitoring of foods, environment, & stimulation provide vital information that can save your child's life & increase his ability to interact with the world around him.
Does nutrition hold the cure for Autism/Aspergers? Probably not. Do the right foods dramatically increase a child's ability to function and be more behaviorally manageable? YES!
Documentation is the way to determine what you can do to best help your child, and to track if what you are doing may truly be having a positive outcome on your child. Doctors, psychologists and educators will take you more seriously if you have good notes (documentation) to support your ideas that may benefit your child.
Good documentation includes a chart with date, time of day, any & all foods eaten & amounts, behavior, sleep, daily activities.
